Already around two years later than when it was originally planned, Wonder Woman 1984 was an early COVID victim as it got shunted twice, eventually ending up on Christmas Day 2020.

Now it looks like Warner Bros. are going to push it again. Deadline are reporting that Warner’s now accept that the theater going landscape will not be massively improved by then.

Winter looks like thin gruel now, with No Time To Die and Dune joining the exodus. Universal’s The Croods: A New Age is still looking at Thanksgiving, then 20th Century Fox’s Free Guy on 11th December, Death On The Nile on 18th December before Wonder Woman 1984 was due. The Croods, Free Guy and Death On The Nile also all feel like streaming candidates even if big tentpoles are holding out for theaters.

Coming 2 America and Greenland are already primed for PVOD. Marketing efforts need to be starting around now if it’s to stand for a Christmas Day release and there is no sign of this so far.

New York and LA show no signs of opening just yet.
