So it looks like the gang is all here. Mary Elizabeth Winstead is reportedly playing Hera Syndulla in Star Wars: Ahsoka. The Twi’lek pilot and Rebel character’s inclusion in the series has been reported by the Bespin Bulletin. A glimpse was given in a Star Wars Celebration exclusive clip, but you could not tell which actor was in the role.

She joins Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano and Nastasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren. This means the female leads from animated show Star Wars: Rebels all get their live action incarnations. Joining them will be Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn.

The actor playing Thrawn is yet to be confirmed.  Many suspected it was one-time Punisher Ray Stevenson who is in the cast. However then Lars Mikkelsen was also cast and he voiced Thrawn in the animated show. Various different outlets have reported different stories around the casting of Thrawn.

Hayden Christensen is also confirmed as returning for scenes thought to be flashbacks to Ahsoka’s time during the Clone Wars as his Padawan.

Dave Filoni is writing and directing multiple episodes of Star Wars: Ahsoka. Many fans hold this to be a good thing, however with Andor the world of live-action Star Wars showed it can do its best work when it steps fully away from convention and too heavy ties to pre-established lore and is allowed to do its own thing.

The rule of Star Wars now seems to be the further away from the core (The Mandalorian, Andor) you are, the better stories you can tell. The closer you are to that core (Obi-Wan Kenobi, The Book Of Boba Fett) then the more you become bogged down and restricted.

The Mandalorian season 3 drops on March 1st, with Star Wars: Ahsoka expected to land towards the back half of 2023.
