From Deadpool 2 Director David Leitch
Hobbs & Shaw director David Leitch and Fresh Prince Will Smith are collaborating on a new thriller titled Fast & Loose.
Deadline reports that Leitch is set to direct Smith as a man suffering from amnesia, who traces his identity back to two double lives, one of which he must decide is the real one.
According to Deadline, here’s the logline –
“After the leader of an upper-echelon criminal organization suffers memory loss from an attack, he reunites with his crew, only to find that things aren’t what he thinks they are. When John Riley (Smith) wakes up in Tijuana after being left for dead with absolutely no memory, he follows a string of clues to uncover his identity discovering he’s been living two different lives: one, as a super-successful crime kingpin, surrounded by beautiful women, expensive toys, and a lavish lifestyle and the other as an undercover CIA agent, but with a puny salary, no family or home life whatsoever, and zero trappings of success. The problem is, he can’t remember which of these two personas is his true identity, and, more importantly, which life he really wants to live.”
First announced in April 2020, the project was originally developed by STXfilms back when Leitch was only aboard to produce, but once he made the decision to direct, Smith signed on to star and make it his next project following Antoine Fuqua’s runaway slave movie Emancipation.
Fast & Loose is written by sibling scribes Jon and Erich Hoeber, whose credits include Red and The Meg. The film has become the subject of a major bidding war as several high-profile studios want to get in on the action, including Warner Bros, Paramount, MGM, Sony, as well as major streaming platforms.
Leitch and Kelly McCormick will produce through 87North, and Smith, his co-president and head of motion pictures Jon Mone and James Lassiter are producing with Westbrook Studios.
