David Cronenberg has a certain style to his movies, you can tell if it is one of his. Well, like father, like son, Brandon Cronenberg has directed Infinity Pool.
You’d be forgiven if you thought that was one of David’s movies, but you can clearly see his influence in his son’s work.
The plot for Infinity Pool is:
James and Em Foster are enjoying an all-inclusive beach vacation in the fictional island of La Tolqa, when a fatal accident exposes the resort’s perverse subculture of hedonistic tourism, reckless violence and surreal horrors.
Sounds like a bachelor party in the Mediterranean to be honest, after a few pints, everything gets surreal and ends in reckless violence.
The movie stars Alexander Skarsgard, Mia Goth, Thomas Kretschmann, Cleopatra Coleman, Amanda Brugel, John Ralston, and Caroline Boulton. It is written and directed by Brandon Cronenberg.
Infinity Pool had some issues getting an R rating since the “some graphic violence and sexual content” was a bit too much and received an NC-17 before cuts. Now, it’s R for “graphic violence, disturbing material, strong sexual content, graphic nudity, drug use, and some language.”
Fiver says Mia gets naked in it, which already gives it a good head start over a lot of other movies out there.
Infinity Pool is due out in Jan 2023.
