HBO has released a new trailer for the miniseries We Own This City which sees David Simon returns to Baltimore with Jon Bernthal.

We Own This City

Written by The Wire’s Simon, We Own This City marks his first series set in Baltimore since The Wire ended in 2008. The show is based on the book A True Story Of Crime, Cops And Corruption by investigative journalist Justin Fenton.

The six-episode miniseries will follow the Gun Trace Task Force scandal that shocked Baltimore and the rest of the country in 2017 and is developed by George Pelecanos and Simon.

The series also focuses on the FBI investigation that ultimately led to the group’s downfall.

While some members of the task force willingly participated in the group’s illegal activities, the show profiles how more reluctant members got sucked in, as well as how they worked to cooperate with the federal investigation.

Here’s the new trailer:

The synopsis reads:

We Own This City chronicles the rise and fall of the Baltimore Police Department’s Gun Trace Task Force and the corruption and moral collapse that befell an American city in which the policies of drug prohibition and mass arrest were championed at the expense of actual police work.”

The cast includes a few old faces from The Wire such as Jamie Hector in addition to McKinley Belcher III, Darrell Britt-Gibson, Josh Charles, Dagmara Domińczyk, Rob Brown, Don Harvey, David Corenswet, Larry Mitchell, Ian Duff, Delaney Williams, and Lucas Van Engen.
