According to The Hollywood Reporter, Phoebe Waller-Bridge is attached to write scripts and executive produce a Tomb Raider television show at Amazon for their Prime streamer.
The Fleabag writer/star and Killing Eve creator is on a hot streak, with an upcoming appearance in Indiana Jones and the Dial Of Destiny, following her script work on No Time To Die which, through MGM, probably helped link her in with Amazon.
As with the best-selling video game series, the show will follow the adventures of archaeologist and adventurer Lara Croft and forms part of Waller-Bridge’s overall Amazon deal.
The project is in only in the early development stages and Waller-Bridge is joined as executive producers by Amazon’s former head of comedy and drama Ryan Andolina and former head of overall deals Amanda Greenblatt. Those two have a production company that they set up together, which will produce the show.
Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander played Lara Croft on the screen, with voice actors for the games ranging from Keeley Hawes to Minnie Driver, with Hayley Atwell providing the voice for an animated series.
Waller-Bridge was also previously attached to star opposite Donald Glover in a TV series version of Mr. & Mrs. Smith before she exited the show over creative differences.
Her breakthrough hit, Fleabag, was originally a stage production that was first performed as part of the London Storytelling Festival on 25 November 2012. The first full version of Fleabag premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2013.
