Creed and Black Panther writer/director Ryan Coogler is busy. On top of spinning up Black Panther 2, he has now locked a five-year overall exclusive television deal with Disney. Project number one from this partnership will be a new television series for Disney+ and Marvel Studios set in the Kingdom, of Wakanda.
Coogler’s Proximity Media will also get an open door into other areas of the comapmny, so they are not limited just to the MCU or Disney+. Coogler said in a statement:
“We are especially excited that we will be taking our first leap with Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso and their partners at Marvel Studios where we will be working closely with them on select MCU shows for Disney+. We’re already in the mix on some projects that we can’t wait to share.”
Black Panther 2 will take the brave step of not simply recasting the lead after Chadwick Boseman passed unexpectedly last year. That movie is due July 2022.
