Marvel Studios has unveiled the teaser for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever at Comic-Con – oh boy, are the studios treating us this weekend! This is the long anticipated sequel to the greatest film ever made and some are already tipping it to win every single Oscar in 2023.
The trailer is littered with references to the late Chadwick Boseman but is careful not to reveal what has happened to Wakanda’s king. Boseman is glimpsed on a mural in Wakanda’s capital city while two drummers perform.
Some nerd online has translated the phrase on the mural into English from the Wakandan alphabet and apparently it says: “The Panther King Forever Lives In Us.”
The Sub-Mariner And The Na’vi?
Wakanda Forever will introduce Tenoch Huerta as anti-hero Namor AKA The Sub-Mariner. Namor rules the watery kingdom of Atlantis and he is the antagonist in the movie. The trailer clearly depicts a conflict between Wakanda and his people.
The trailer also gives us a first look at Ironheart. Dominique Thorne stars Riri Williams, the young woman who takes over the Iron Man mantle and will star in her own upcoming Disney+ series.
The closing shot seems to reveal the Golden Jaguar suit that Michael B. Jordan’s Erik Killmonger wore. This is the comic book world and no one is ever truly dead.
I’ll be honest, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever looks better than I was expecting. Check it out and let us know your thoughts in the comments.
