Back in the summer a dark satire movie made headlines without even being released.

Craig Zobel directed The Hunt. Jason Blum and Damon Lindelof produce the film in which twelve strangers wake up in a forest.  They discover they are the prey against a group of rich, privileged hunters who have paid a fortune to hunt humans for sport.

The controversy was that the strangers are all working class and the hunters are all Liberal elites.

When the trailers started to drop right after three high profile mass shootings, along with high emotion on both sides of the political divide and between pro and anti 2nd amendment groups, political commentary sites got hold of the story.

A small, low profile movie suddenly became the centre of a media storm.  Universal then cancelled the release.

Now it’s back.  Universal have reinstated the movie into their schedule and they ain’t dumb!  They are playing up the controversy.

The new poster is positively gleeful of the attention.  The new trailer has also been released.

Betty Gilpin, Ike Barinholtz, Hilary Swank, Emma Roberts, Ethan Suplee and Justin Hartley star in the movie that Zobel has always maintained aimed to satirise both sides of the liberal/conservative divide.

It will get a full release on Friday, March 13th.
