It has been a long time coming. A movie that has changed directors and had more false starts than a Jamaican beach relay has finally started filming. Lead actor Tom Holland has confirmed that Uncharted is underway.

Sony Pictures are adapting the global smash-hit PlayStation game into a movie. Holland will play an early twenty-something version of hero Nathan Drake.  Drake was in his 30s and 40s in the game series. Holland tweeted a picture of his chair on set along with the caption: “Day one. #Uncharted.”

The story will be a prequel to the game series and be an origin story for Drake and his mentor Sully (Mark Wahlberg). Ruben Fleischer (Venom) finally settled into the directors chair after many before him dropped out. Antonio Banderas, Sophia Ali and Tati Gabrielle all co-star.

July 16th 2021 is the new release date. Is that a tight scehdule? Has FX work already started in lockdown?
