Uncharted, as a movie, was gestating for a while. A long while. It got through six different directors. However one thing that remained constant was the two stars, Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg. They clearly believed in the property and stuck by it through all the changes. Now principal photography is wrapped, and they have revealed their character looks for the first time.
Meet the new Nathan Drake in the first official photos from Uncharted. As you can see the look is very faithful to the PlayStation franchise. Tom Holland will play a younger version of the treasure hunter but it’s instantly recognizable as the same character.
He’s even won plaudits for the look from long time voice actor from the games Nolan North, who played the character in all Sony releases. Following a set visit and a look at some footage, North tweeted:
“Like looking into a mirror! Proud to have @TomHolland1996 continuing the Drake legacy! Absolutely smashing it!.”
Holland is infamous for dropping spoilers by accident. At the same time he tweeted his own picture with an artifact in a crypt and an open copy of a book about Magellen, which hints that something linked to the first circumnavigation may well be the movie macguffin this time around.
Mark Wahlberg co-stars as Nathan’s mentor Victor ‘Sully’ Sullivan and he offered a glimpse of his character in an Instagram post around the same time.
Antonio Banderas, Tati Gabrielle and Sophia Ali co-star as Reuben Fletcher helms. Uncharted will make it to theaters late next year… if there are any left.
