The Jurassic World director, and a narrow avoider of Disney-Wars, is going under the sea. Colin Trevorrow has signed on to make a new movie about Atlantis.

Trevorrow developed a new story concept with writer Matt Charman.  Edge of Tomorrow and Alien: Covenant scribe Dante Harper has also collaborated on the writing. The project has apparently been in development for a number of years.

The premise proposes that Atlantis is a lost continent located in the Indian Ocean where a multicultural civilization exists with advanced technology. So like a damp Wakanda, with more diversity and less racial stereotypes.

Trevorrow is currently prepping a post-COVID restart on Jurassic World: Dominion, of which Bryce Dallas Howard has said:

“The script was awesome, it was so exhilarating reading it.”

With this movie, Aquaman, Aquaman 2 and rumors of Namor – The Submariner making an appearance in the MCU it might be a crowded aquatic movie marketplace out there.
