Aussie actor Travis Fimmel, who starred as the warrior Ragnar Lothbrok in four seasons of Vikings, is now in pre-production for a new movie called Rust.
Fimmel has had a pretty good career so far outside of Vikings, including most recently Raised by Wolves, which had a couple of episodes director by Ridley Scott.
Alec Baldwin is starring in Rust and is also set to produce. It is being written and directed by Joel Souza who is known for Crown Vic and Break Night. I can’t say I’ve heard of either of those movies, but reading having read up about them I can say they seem interesting. The plot of Rust is:
Infamous Western outlaw Harland Rust (Baldwin) has had a bounty on his head for as long as he can remember. When his estranged 13-year-old grandson Lucas (Noon) is convicted of an accidental murder and sentenced to hang, Rust travels to Kansas to break him out of prison.
Rust and Lucas will have to travel across the Old West to escape legendary US Marshal Wood Helm, who is yet to be cast.
Production was originally meant to start in May 2020, but was pushed back and will now start this month in New Mexico.
Rust is expected to hit the screens in early 2023.
