After clearly demonstrating the law of diminishing returns, creatively and financially, Paramount have decided Transformers needs a franchise reboot. Now the collaboration with Hasbro Studios has found a director. Creed 2 helmer Steven Caple Jr. is in negotiations with the studio according to Deadline.

This follows a series of meetings between the director and Paramount. Where this would fit in his schedule would need to be resolved.

This is part of their project to re-launch the valuable franchise that saw two simultaneous scripts competing through a development process. The script by James Vanderbilt was parked while the Joby Harold script was taken forward.

The next stage was director pitches so clearly Steven Caple Jr. pitched something that impressed them.

This is rumored to stand alone from the five Michael Bay movies, Bumblebee and the animated prequel that is in the pipeline.
