Apple has released the first trailer for a new sci-fi series titled Invasion, that is “inspired” by H.G. Wells’ War Of The Worlds.

The show stars Sam Neill (Jurassic Park) in the lead role, with Oscar and Emmy nominee Simon Kinberg (X-Men: Dark Phoenix) heading things up behind the scenes.

Apple describes the show as a sweeping, character-driven series.

As we see from the trailer, life on Earth is going to be disrupted in a big bad way by some alien invaders. What do they want? At this point, it’s unclear. What is clear, humanity is in no way ready to deal with the consequences of such a grand event.

Here it is:

The official Apple synopsis reads –

“From Academy Award-nominated and two-time Emmy Award-nominated producer Simon Kinberg and David Weil, Invasion is a sweeping, character-driven science fiction drama series that follows an alien invasion through different perspectives around the world. Following multiple storylines across different continents, Invasion takes a global look at how one alien invasion would affect us all.”

Starring alongside Neill is Shamier Anderson (Bruised, Awake), Golshifteh Farahani (Extraction, Paterson, Body of Lies), Firas Nassar (Fauda) and Shioli Kutsuna (Deadpool 2, The Outsider).

Apple will debut the first three episodes of Invasion on October 22nd, followed by new episodes weekly, every Friday.
