Apple has released an official trailer for the upcoming sci-fi thriller series titled Dr. Brain from filmmaker Kim Jee-woon.

Dr. Brain

Dr. Brain follows a brain scientist who is obsessive about figuring out new technologies to access the consciousness and memories of the brain.

His life goes sideways when his family falls victim to a mysterious accident, and he uses his skills to access memories from his wife’s brain to piece together the mystery of what actually happened to his family and why.

Here’s the trailer:

Apple’s official synopsis reads:

Dr. Brain follows a brilliant brain scientist Sewon (Lee Sun-kyun) who suffers a horrific personal tragedy when his family falls victim to a mysterious accident. Desperate to uncover what happened, he goes to extraordinary lengths to solve the tragic mystery by conducting “brain syncs” with the dead to access their memories for clues.”

Dr. Brain will star Lee Sun-kyun, who is widely known for his supporting role in the Academy Award-winning film Parasite.

Jee-woon (A Tale of Two Sisters, I Saw the Devil) wrote, directed, and executive-produced the show, which is an adaptation of the Korean webtoon of the same name by Hongjacga.

When discussing the series, Jee-woon told The Korea Times back in March of this year:

“It was interesting to follow the protagonist’s journey as he looks into a mysterious accident and unravels what actually happened to his family and why. I think I can offer a unique take on the sci-fi thriller”

“I also loved the theme and subjects it explores. The series demonstrates how a character becomes self-aware of the ironies in life by accessing the minds and memories of others and studying how others had perceived him. He also rebuilds a broken relationship.”

Dr. Brain

Dr. Brain is streaming on Apple TV+ starting on November 4th.
