Saban Films has released a poster and trailer for Mark Neveldine’s upcoming action thriller Panama, starring Mel Gibson.

Panama

Panama is set during the political upheaval of 1989, which was the year in which the United States invaded Panama for over a month in an attempt to depose the then de facto Panamanian leader, Manuel Noriega.

The film stars Yellowstone’s Cole Hauser. He plays a former marine who learns the true nature of political power when he is hired by a CIA operative (Gibson) to complete a secret arms deal.

Here’s the trailer:

Saban’s synopsis reads:

“When the U.S. is on the brink of invading Panama, a former marine (Hauser) is hired by a CIA operative (Gibson) for a top secret arms trade mission. Alone and among the most dangerous arms dealers, Becker (Hauser) learns the true nature of political power.”

Along with Gibson and Hauser, other members of the cast include Charlie Weber, Katie Katzman, Jackie Cruz, Victor Turpin, Kiara Liz, Simon Phillips, and Mauricio Hénao.

Panama wrapped production in Puerto Rico last December, and The Hollywood Reporter says that after Gibson shot his part he immediately moved on to shooting Leo From Toledo. This is another action thriller directed by Joe Carnahan that is also set to shoot in Puerto Rico.

Gibson will soon be behind the camera again as he is attached to direct an update of the movie Wild Bunch for Warner. Bros. which is set to be released next year.
