The first trailer for Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania has been released and dare I say it, it looks quite good and grandiose in scope. Is Marvel back?
Ant-Man Quantumania will begin Phase 5 of the Marvel machine and unlike the previous two Ant-Man movies, this looks like it will actually have some significant impact on the Marvel universe. I could be forgiven for saying the first two felt like being a stop-gap to ensure everyone continues to CONSUME the product.
Guardians Of The Quantum Realm
We see Scott Lang now has celebrity status and is, as the kids say, living his best life. His daughter Cassie is now part of the whole Sciencey-Ant-Man setup and sends a signal to the Quantum Realm which is where all the trouble starts.
Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer – still smoking hot) is none too pleased about the signal and before they can shut it down, they are all zapped into the Quantum Realm. Things look, very Guardians Of The Galaxy inspired with bright and vibrant backdrops and various weird and wonderful creatures.
Also, Bill Murray shows up – providing he isn’t deep-faked out of the movie between now and then. Old Bill seems to be this year’s celebrity sacrificial lamb and has been earmarked for cancellation. Time will tell.
We Was Kangs
We know that Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors) is the main villain and will have a large role (pun intended) throughout Phase 5 that includes Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars.
The new movie was written by Jeff Loveness (Rick And Morty) who has now been confirmed to write Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, so expect to see hints in Quantumania of what’s in store for the next big Avengers movie. Also… burp…. science Morty!
Director Peyton Reed had a major claim to make about the new movie:
“Things happen in this movie that are going to change the Marvel Cinematic Universe permanently.”
Well, after Phase 4 and in particular She-Hulk, this can only be a good thing. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania premieres in theaters on 17th February 2023.
