Movie Premieres Next Month

Well Go USA has released the first trailer for Synchronic. The new sci-fi/thriller which stars Anthony Mackie and Jamie Dornan.

New Orleans paramedics Steve and Dennis have their lives ripped apart when they stumble upon a bizarre plot involving a series of drug-related deaths, in Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead’s new film.

Here’s the trailer –

Synchronic’s official blurb reads –

“When New Orleans paramedics and longtime best friends Steve (Mackie) and Dennis (Dornan) are called to a series of bizarre, gruesome accidents, they chalk it up to the mysterious new party drug found at the scene. But after Dennis’s oldest daughter suddenly disappears, Steve stumbles upon a terrifying truth about the supposed psychedelic that will challenge everything he knows about reality—and the flow of time itself.”

Interestingly, while movie theaters have begun reopening in the US, with theater chains taking extra precautions, there are still health and safety concerns. The film will be playing in theaters and at drive-ins but the creators have discouraged their fans from going to a traditional theater. Moorhead posted this on his Instagram –

“Due to distribution arrangements that are out of our control, the release of ‘Synchronic‘ into drive-ins and indoor theaters has been confirmed for October 23rd. But we want to be very clear: at the time of writing this, we personally wouldn’t go to an indoor movie theater, so we can’t encourage you to. To us, this isn’t only about feeling safe in a theater, this is also about the scientific community indicating that enclosed spaces like movie theaters are still a hazard.”

The film premiered at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival and also stars Katie Aselton and Ally Ioannides. Benson penned the screenplay.

Synchronic will hit theaters and drive-ins on October 23rd.
