The first footage of George Miller’s long-awaited Three Thousand Years Of Longing has just dropped and you just know it’s going to be as crazy as it is stunning!
This is Miller’s long-awaited follow-up to the glorious Mad Max: Fury Road and even though it’s a mere 19 seconds long, there is more than enough to get the juices flowing in anticipation for the full trailer which arrives on Friday.
The official synopsis:
Dr Alithea Binnie (Tilda Swinton) is an academic – content with life and a creature of reason. While in Istanbul attending a conference, she happens to encounter a Djinn (Idris Elba) who offers her three wishes in exchange for his freedom.
This presents two problems. First, she doubts that he is real and second, because she is a scholar of story and mythology, she knows all the cautionary tales of wishes gone wrong. The Djinn pleads his case by telling her fantastical stories of his past. Eventually she is beguiled and makes a wish that surprises them both.
Hollywood is screaming out for originality these days and if anyone is going to deliver it, it’s George Miller. Hurry up Friday, I need this in my eyeballs!
Three Thousand Years Of Longing premieres in theaters on August 31st… which is a day after my birthday if you want to put both events in your calendars.
