Marvel Studios has released anew trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder, that will be in theatres in two weeks, on July 8.
The trailer shows a fair amount of new footage and is based around Thor putting together his team to take on Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher. According to the blurb:
“The fourth installment finds Thor on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher, who seeks the extinction of the gods.
To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie, Korg, and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster, who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.”
If you aren’t a fan of the humor in this version of Thor, then there is nothing in the trailer likely to change your mind as the amusement lands thick and fast. It does feature one hell of a cast, though.
Alongside Hemsworth and Bale are Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, and Natalie Portman as Jane Foster. They are joined by Jaime Alexander as Sif, Jeff Goldblum as Grandmaster, Taika Waititi as Korg, and the entire Guardians of the Galaxy roster including Chris Pratt’s Peter Quill and Vin Diesel’s Groot.
Waititi directs from a script he co-wrote with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Someone Great).
