The entire ‘woke’ thing has changed a lot creatively over the past few years. It’s not going anywhere any time soon. In the latest example of this a new president of Marvel Studios, Victoria Alonso, thinks that X-Men isn’t inclusive enough and wants to change it.
In an interview with Nuke the Fridge, Alonso, hinted that internal thinking is that the name X-Men isn’t sufficiently inclusive. She was only promoted to the position of president of Physical, Post Production, VFX, and Animation for four days before this. She has been quoted as saying:
“I don’t know where the future is going. It’s funny that people call it the X-Men, there’s a lot of female superheroes in that X-Men group, so I think it’s outdated.”
Alonso was someone who supported the effort to turn Marvel villain Loki into a gender-fluid character.
According to the Daily Wire, the MCU has been a huge success but the X-Men haven’t done so well. Disney bought the rights to the X-Men from 20th Century Fox last year and has been trying to find a way to integrate all of the characters from the two series.
Ryan Reynolds will also be back as the Merc with the Mouth and Deadpool 3 will take place in the MCU.
Kevin Feige has is set to produce an X-Men reboot entitled The Mutants. Hypebeast reported:
“Still in the early development stages, it is currently unclear just what the team in the Marvel Studios reboot will look like.”
There is no news about The Mutants at the moment, there is no director attached or any cast rumored.
