Henry Cavil is now out of The Witcher for the fourth series, but it’s OK, since there’s a prequel spinoff coming, in the form of The Witcher: Blood Origins.
The series was supposed to be a 6 part series but has now been trimmed down to a ‘four-part special event’ which will be out over Christmas.
The Witcher: Blood Origins is set over 1,000 years before the events in The Witcher, and tells:
…a story lost to time – the creation of the first prototype Witcher, and the events that lead to the pivotal “conjunction of the spheres,” when the worlds of monsters, men, and elves merged to become one.
The cast is Michelle Yeoh, Dylan Moran, Zach Wyatt, Jacob Collins-Levy, Sophia Brown, Laurence O’Fuarain, and Lenny Henry. I have to say, seeing Henry’s name isn’t good, his character stuck out like a sore thumb in Rings of Power.
O’Ruarain plays Fjall, who is a warrior who is sworn to protect the king and on a quest for redemption. Brown is Eile, a warrior who is now a minstrel. Yeoh is the last of a tribe of sword elves.
Andrzej Sapkowski, the author of the original Witcher books, is involved as a creative consultant.
The Witcher: Blood Origins is set to stream on 25th Dec.
