First, there was Bohemian Rhapsody, then Rocketman, then there was Elvis, and now it’s time for Weird: The Al Yankovic Story. Daniel Radcliffe is playing Weird Al Yankovic in a biopic of the parody songwriter. The trailer is now out.

The hair and moustache are about as iconic as the man himself. Weird has been written by Yankovic and director Eric Appel, who had both worked on a short version of a Weird Al biopic, as a parody, for FunnyOrDie back in 2010.

This full-length version of the movie stars Radcliffe, Evan Rachel Wood, Rainn Wilson, Julianne Nicholson, Spencer Treat Clark, and Quinta Brunson. The trailer looks like it’s a parody of Weird Al himself, like he wrote a serious version of his life but then wanted to add some comedy and it ended up with another layer of parody. Radcliffe has said about the role:

“It was honestly one of the most fun jobs I’ve ever done. If you can’t have fun making the Weird Al movie, what are you doing with your life? I’m really excited for people to see it. He’s the best.

I know everyone says this about him, but it’s so lovely to meet somebody that you look up to and you know as a hero to so many people, and to have them just be kind and fun and sweet. I can now go to my grave saying that I’ve had accordion lessons with Weird Al.”

Alfred Matthew Yankovic was born in 1959 and since one of his comedy songs was first aired in 1976, he has sold more than 12 million albums, recorded more than 150 parodies and original songs, and performed more than 1,000 live shows.

Weird: The Al Yanovic Story will be streaming on 4th November.
