In these days of wet, over-emotional over-reaction to just about everything, sometimes you just want to go old school. Watch a growling bald man with a wildly variable accent blow stuff up, shoot at things and punch people. Right on cue comes the news that Jason Statham and director Guy Ritchie are re-teaming again for a spy movie – Five Eyes.

Five-Eyes, in reality, is the intelligence alliance between the US, the UK, Australia, New Zealand and Canada. Statham’s character will be an agent recruited by the Five Eyes and teamed up with a CIA tech expert. A billionaire arms dealer has some deadly new weapons and a nefarious plan. They have to infiltrate his network around the world and stop it.

This is the fifth time they have worked together after Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch, Revolver and the upcoming Cash Truck. Ritchie’s career is on the up again after the wildly successful Disney live-action remake of Aladdin and the well received return to his roots in The Gentleman.

Five Eyes is written by Cash Truck scribe Ivan Atkinson, with additional writing by Marn Davies and Ritchie. Atkinson will produce with Bill Block.
