Hulu has released what looks like the opening four minutes of the new season of The Orville. It shows what appears to be a huge space battle already underway and the Orville right in the middle of it alongside other ships. They are all under fire.
Hulu picked up The Orville from Fox in the wake of the Disney mergers and movements. This already seems to show a darker tone and, dare we say, a bigger budget.
The clip then also shows the new opening credits scene that is so Star Trek that it out Star Trek’s current Star Trek by a country mile. Paramount+ still getting that sinking feeling that the best Star Trek show out there is nothing to do with them, and that more fans switch to The Orville as Kurtzman runs Star Trek into the ground by seemingly not understanding a single thing about it. Feels like it is time for this meme again:
The Orville: New Horizons features the returning cast of MacFarlane, Adrianne Palicki, Penny Johnson Jerald, Scott Grimes, Peter Macon, J. Lee, Chad L. Coleman, Jessica Szohr, and Anne Winters.
Guest stars in The Orville range from Ted Danson and Liam Neeson, through to Charlize Theron, and even Bruce Willis as a flower.
We have a wait though. We have waited since 2019. The Orville: New Horizons premieres on Hulu on Thursday June 2nd. It is expected to be available on other streamers internationally.
