The third in the series of Harry Potter prequels has a release date. Fantastic Beast: The Secrets of Dumbledore will be in the cinemas 15th April 2022.

Originally the movie was set to release in July, but has been moved up three months to April. The title The Secrets of Dumbledore has also been confirmed.

Director David Yates, who directed the first two movies, is back in the chair with JK Rowling is writing the screenplay. All the original cast are back, Eddie Redmayne, Jude Law, Ezra Miller, Katherine Waterson, and Dan Fogler, all with their previous roles intact.

One casting change is Grindelwald, previously played by Jonny Depp. He will now be played by Mads Mikkelsen. It is no secret about the abuse allegations against Jonny Depp and these lead to him being fired by Warner Brothers for the third installment of the movie franchise. In the meantime, Amber Heard is still set to star in Aquaman 2 also at Warner Bros.

The plot of The Secrets of Dumbledore will follow the future headmaster of Hogwarts, as he enlists the help of Redmayne’s Newt Scamander, to fight the growing army of Grindelwald.

This is the third in the Fantastic Beasts series, with two more to follow, as it was all planned as a series of five movies from the start.

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore will be in the cinemas on 15th April 2022.
