Paramount clearly has faith in the property.  After mixed results with GI Joe: The Rise Of Cobra and GI Joe: Retaliation they are going again with Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins in October.  Even before this lands they are already working on a follow-up.

Henry Golding (Crazy Rich Asians, The Gentlemen) is in the lead role of Snake Eyes. Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse, who wrote Ben Wheatley’s upcoming Rebecca and Oscar Isaac’s upcoming The Great Machine have pitched to write whatever comes next.

Paramount’s plan is to build on Snake Eyes and widen the scope with each film to eventually totally immerse in the world of GI Joe.  We’ll see how that goes for them then.

Lorenzo di Bonaventura will produce as usual.
