If you’re a regular here at LMO, you’ve no doubt seen every trailer, TV spot, or clip that’s been released so far, and now this new featurette takes a look back on the original film’s legacy while also pushing its characters in new directions.
The video reveals where exactly Thomas Anderson (Keanu Reeves), a.k.a. Neo, is. In the video, we also see how Thomas is connected to Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss) and how the new character Bugs (Jessica Henwick) fits into their story.
Reeves also reveals that his character has an analyst (Neil Patrick Harris) in the film, who helps by giving him blue pills. It turns out that there is still a group of people who still believes that Neo is out there.
Although the featurette doesn’t fully explain the plot of the movie, it’s enough to give us a slight idea of how the characters will connect in the story.
The film’s official blurb reads:
“In a world of two realities–everyday life and what lies behind it–Thomas Anderson will have to choose to follow the white rabbit once more. Choice, while an illusion, is still the only way in or out of the Matrix, which is stronger, more secure and more dangerous than ever before.”
Produced, co-written, and directed by Lana Wachowski, The Matrix: Resurrections stars Reeves, Moss, and Jada Pinkett Smith, each of whom will reprise their roles from previous movies in the series.
They will be joined by a host of new characters, including Henwick, Jonathan Groff, Patrick Harris, Christina Ricci, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who has confirmed that he will play a younger version of Neo’s former mentor, Morpheus.
The Matrix: Resurrections is set to be released in theaters and HBO Max on December 22nd.
