Frozen 2 Star To Join Keanu

The Matrix 4 movie has recruited Frozen 2 and Mindhunter star Jonathan Groff to join Keanu Reeves in the upcoming sequel.

Groff, who voices Kristoff in the Disney animation and plays Agent Holden Ford on Netflix’s Mindhunter, is the latest cast member to sign up for the new Matrix film, which will see Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss reprise their roles as Neo and Trinity respectively.

They’ll also be joined by Aquaman villain Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, with reports suggesting that he could be playing a young Morpheus.

Jada Pinkett Smith will also be back as Niobe, while Jessica Henwick and Neil Patrick Harris will play new characters in the franchise.

Lana Wachowski is on board to write and direct a fourth Matrix movie. She’s currently adapting concepts she developed with sibling Lilly Wachowski for a new screenplay, collaborating with The Lazarus Project author Aleksandar Hemon and writer David Mitchell.

“Many of the ideas Lilly and I explored 20 years ago about our reality are even more relevant now,”

“I’m very happy to have these characters back in my life and grateful for another chance to work with my brilliant friends.”

The first installment in The Matrix franchise premiered in 1999 to universal acclaim; it grossed over $460 million worldwide, won four Academy Awards and is often regarded as one of the greatest science-fiction films of all time.

The success of the film spawned two sequels, The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions, both of which were massive successes at the box office but failed to replicate the critical reception of the original.

The Matrix 4 will begin production February 2020.
