It’s trailer round-up time, you magnificent barbarians of pop culture. We have dragons, trannies, freaky twins, comic books nerds and Mike Tyson. Let’s get straight to it!

Mike

I’m a massive boxing fan so I’m chomping at the ears for this. Following on from the teaser, we finally get the full trailer.

Trevante Rhodes plays Mike and the series will explore the wild, tragic and controversial life and career of heavyweight champion Mike Tyson – one of the most polarizing figures in sports culture. Mike is released 25th August.

They/Them

Let’s follow on from an Alpha like Tyson to a bunch of sexually confused weirdos in the full trailer for They/Them. A group of teenagers at an LGBTQ+ conversion camp endures unsettling psychological techniques while being stalked by a mysterious masked killer.

They/Them is released 5th August

House Of The Dragon

Keeping on the theme of fantasy and make believe, we have a new trailer for the Game Of Thrones prequel, House Of The Dragon.

Set two hundred years before the events of Game of Thrones, the series chronicles the beginning of the end of House Targaryen; the events leading up to and covering the Targaryen civil war, known as the Dance of the Dragons, roughly based on the War of the Roses. House Of The Dragon is released 21st August

Funny pages

Not George Lucas and Pops will like this one. From A24 and centred around a comic book artist, this looks like another original and quirky hit for A24. A bitingly funny coming-of-age story of a teenage cartoonist who rejects the comforts of his suburban life in a misguided quest for soul.

Funny Pages is released 26th August

The Silent Twins

A true story to round things up, starring Black Panther’s sister Letitia Wright.

June and Jennifer Gibbons are twins from the only Black family in a small town in Wales in the 1970s and ’80s. Feeling isolated from the community, the pair turn inward and reject communication with everyone but each other, retreating into their own fantasy world of inspiration and adolescent desires. After a spree of vandalism, the girls are sentenced to Broadmoor, an infamous psychiatric hospital, where they face the choice to separate and survive or die together. The Silent Twins is released 16th September
