Some of us are old enough to remember a time before the internet. Back then, the only way you knew of what was going into production in Hollywood was from newspaper articles or a Starlog subscription. Going to the movies provided a time of sheer, giddy anticipation.  The advertisements had ended, the movie was yet to begin, it was time for the trailers.

You had no idea what was coming. What wonders of movie making were going to be revealed to you. It was magical.

And then, one fateful day, we waited fourteen hours to download The Phantom Menace trailer via our 56k dial-up modem and the world changed forever, and not in a good way. The trailer is still with us, but the magic has long since gone. Now we view them all after release via a web browser on a small screen, or a phone.

Debate
“I am telling you, things were just better back then!”

Trailers can still pack a punch, though. The art of a well cut trailer is wonderful to behold. When the hairs on the back of your neck stand up, as a theme rises, and the cuts seem to match your heart rate until you build to your inevitable conclusion of:

“I am looking forward to this!”

We seem to have passed the time of the “Bwarms” which can only be a good thing, so hopefully the wonders of well constructed trailers can continue without their curse. The subject for this Great Debate is:

What is the greatest movie trailer of all time?

Me. I have always had a soft spot for Man Of Steel trailer #3.

I think it’s a perfect trailer. It tells a story without giving too much away. It builds. It hits beats in perfect time. As trailers go, its a work of art. If the movie lived up to its trailer, and was then followed up, maybe the DCEU wouldn’t be such a messy shit show?

Debate

What about you? Agree? Disagree? What are your picks as the greatest trailer the world has ever seen?
