You know how we feel about awards ceremonies and associated Hollywood pomp around here. Pretty much all of us, from contributors to all of our Outposters, are arrayed on a scale somewhere between snark and full-on disdain.

The back-slapping, the self-congratulation, the “Who are you wearing?” red carpet wastes of oxygen. Usually, we either point and laugh, even for the Oscars, or we completely ignore them.

That was the drill for the 2021 Emmy Nominations. Then we looked again at the list and we started to see something potentially emerging. The awards “Glass Ceiling” has been cracking lately, faced with a geek onslaught Things like an Oscar Nomination for Black Panther have happened.

That cracking appears to be close to a shattering. Look at the list! WandaVision, The Boys, The Mandalorian. All well presented, some with several nominations. The big news for us is Cobra-Kai. Saved from YouTube by Netflix, now one of their biggest shows and still some of the best fun you can have in front of the TV with your pants on. It is finally getting recognition, with an Outstanding Comedy Series nomination.

The geeks are marching on the world of television? As the movies continue to disappoint and patronize, is the world of television and streaming now where the action is?

Apologies as we leave our usual formatting at the door for this list. Yes, we copied and pasted them and yes, we are too lazy to reformat the whole list. I am off work tomorrow and today feels like Friday. Sue me!
