Marvel are doing what they can to keep the juggernaut of success going by continuing Phase 4 of the MCU. There is a new teaser out for The Eternals.
The storyline reads as :
Following the events of Avengers: Endgame (2019), an unexpected tragedy forces the Eternals, ancient aliens who have been living on Earth in secret for thousands of years, out of the shadows to reunite against mankind’s most ancient enemy, the Deviants.
The movie is being directed by Chloe Zhao, an Oscar winner for Nomandland and written by Kaz and Ryan Firpo. It does have an impressive cast, Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kit Harington, Kumail Nanjiani to name just a few.
Apparently, Zhao is a fan of the comic books and was considered to direct Black Widow, but put in a good pitch for The Eternals. Kevin Feige said it was:
“Very bold and very ambitious, sprawling 7,000-year story of humanity and our place in the cosmos.”
The executive producer Nate Moore, wanted more diversity in the movie, Feige goes on to say:
“The notion of switching up the genders, sexualities & ethnicities of the characters from the comics… That was part of what Nate Moore was really advocating for in moving Eternals to the top of the list for us to start working on.”
This is the same Kevin Feige who recently regretted casting Tilda Swanton in Dr Strange? Apparently, this movie will have the first gay superhero in it.
It might be interesting to see how the movie continues the MCU and explain where the Eternals were when Thanos was clicking his fingers.
The Eternals movie has a release date of 5th November 2021.
