Amazon Prime has released the full trailer for The Consultant. This part dark comedy, part thriller series is eight episodes long and stars Oscar winner Christoph Waltz in the lead role. According to the blurb:
“Mr. Patoff, a bow-tie-wearing consultant comes to the rescue of CompWare after a prominent merger falls through and seemingly starts running the company.”
Various reports throw more light on the story. It begins when a new consultant, Regus Patoff (Waltz), is hired to improve the business at the App-based gaming company CompWare following the death of its CEO.
It follows a relationship between employee and boss, asking how far we will go to get ahead, and to survive as workplace environment suddenly becomes uncomfortable for the employees. Regus begins to implement harsh changes including unreasonable firings along with new demands and challenges that put everything into question… including their lives.
To anyone who works in the corporate environment, this seems both amusing and uncomfortably familiar.
Nat Wolff, Brittany O’Grady and Aimee Carrero co-star in the series. It is based on the 2015 novel written by Bentley Little.
The Consultant is created and executive produced by Tony Basgallop who serves as showrunner. Waltz, Matt Shakman, Steve Stark, and Andrew Mittman executive produce, with Shakman helming the pilot for MGM Television and Amazon Studios.
The Consultant will be available for streaming on February 24th, and is currently on our list to be checked out.
