Riverdale and Sabrina producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is set to write and executive produce.  He will be joined in the Executive Producer points scheme by Sarah Schechter and Greg Berlanti.  Wait a minute!  Berlanti?  Has the bottom fallen out of the twink superhero market?

Maybe it has as the latest series to get this Berlanti touch with be The Brides for ABC.  It is described as a female led soap-opera pilot (this keeps getting better!) based on the Brides Of Dracula.

A contemporary reimagining (uh-oh!) of Dracula that will focus on female leads that will play his three brides.  In this series these immortal women will be at the centre of the drama as they fight to maintain their wealth, prestige and position in society whithis focuses on a trio of female leads who were his brides. The series now follows these immortal women and the things they do to maintain their wealth, prestige, legacy, and nontraditional family.

Gina Torres of Firefly and Suits fame will play one of the three leads.

Her character, Cleo, the leader of the three is described as a former queen, turned by Dracula hundreds of years ago and is now a real estate magnate in New York.

The pilot will focus on her being challenged by a mysterious person asking too many questions which helps drive a wedge between her and the other brides.

An air date is still TBC.
