Alongside Cobra-Kai, Amazon‘s The Boys was one of the freshest things on TV last year. A great mix of dark comedy, action and straight up anarchy, it helped restore our faith in the ability of creatives to get stuff like this made.
Now the second season premiere date has been announced, and Amazon have brought us a behind the scenes look at the new season as part of a cast reunion video. They have also included three minutes of the first episode.
The new season of eight episodes will launch with three at once on September 4th on Prime Video and the remaining five episodes will air every Friday through October 9th.
The new season will resolve THAT cliffhanger, and see the increasingly desperate crew on the run from the law and hunted by the super-powered. In hiding, Hughie (Jack Quaid), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso), Frenchie (Tomer Capon), and Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) try to find Butcher (Karl Urban).
At Vought things are no better as Starlight (Erin Moriarty) struggles to find her place in The Seven now that she knows some of their secrets. Homelander attempts to tighten his iron-grip over them and finds himself resisted by an unexpected arrival, a new Super. Stormfront (Aya Cash) is powerful and media aware, able to spin her own exposure to push her own agenda which presents a challenge to Homelander.
This comes at the worst possible time as a supervillain threat starts to emerge. A challenge to Vought, or an opportunity?
September can’t come quick enough.
