The 1980s were in many ways the peak decade of video games. Sure the graphics were terrible and the gameplay was simple but those bygone days had charm. Here are LMOs best 5 video game commercials from that era.

1. The Legend of Zelda – NES (1986)

I imagine that some ad agency in Los Angeles put this one together with the directive “Hire the weirdest guy in West Hollywood!” They did and the rest is history.

2. Pitfall – Atari 2600 (1982)

Jack Black’s eyebrows. Need I say more?

3. Pole Position – Atari 2600 (1983)

A Yuppie drives his family around in a $3,000 car while he gets yelled at by some asshole. Then a giant hand shows up.

4. Mario Bros. – Atari 5200 (1983)

Mario (pronounced MAR-E-OH) Bros features an actor that looks like a cross between Captain Lou Albano, Ron Jeremy and Mr. Whipple playing Luigi. He sings. Horribly.

5. Ice Hockey – Atari 2600 (1983)

Phil Hartman goes to buy the game cartridge and almost gets into a fistfight with the guy behind the counter who has a nose bigger than Toucan Sam’s beak.
