Will the release hold? No idea. It’s getting close. Analysts estimate they need 80% of theatres open to be able to stand a chance at a profitable run. Notably this trailer says the movie is coming to theatres but declines to name a release date.
It does, however, finally reveal some key details of what the movie is about. Not time travel, but time manipulation.
Shot on a mixture of IMAX and 70mm and with a budget of $205 million, making it the most expensive Nolan movie to date, the cast is impressive. John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Kenneth Branagh, Michael Caine, Dimple Kapadia and Clemence Poesy all feature.
The movie was filmed on location across seven countries – Denmark, Estonia, India, Italy, Norway, UK and the US.
All this effort and it still may be bounced by COVID19. Remember the industry regard this movie as the potential saviour of 2020. If this goes down, everyone else packs up until 2021.
