The almost-forgotten Halo TV series showcased its first teaser during Microsoft’s recent 20th Anniversary Xbox Event.

Halo

Based on the original Halo game launched for Xbox in 2001, the development of this live-action Halo series has been going on for nearly as long as the franchise has existed.

Following the cancellation of a Neil Blomkamp-directed Halo film, a TV show was soon put into production. It was reported that Steven Spielberg would produce, and it would arrive in 2015. Clearly, that didn’t happen.

The show ended up at Paramount with Steven Kane and Kyle Killen as showrunners. Killen left before the start of production, and Kane will depart after season one is completed.

Here’s the teaser:

Paramount’s brief synopsis reads:

“Aliens threaten human existence in an epic 26th-century showdown. A live-action TV series based on the video game Halo.”

The series will star Pablo Schieber as Master Chief. and starring alongside him is Natascha McElhone, Yerin Ha, Bokeem Woodbine, Jen Taylor as Cortana, Shabana Azmi, Olive Gray, Charlie Murphy, Kate Kennedy, Bentley Kalu, Natasha Culzac, Danny Sapani, and Ryan McParland.

While no firm date was offered for when the Halo series will begin streaming, we do know it will be sometime in 2022.
