Quentin Tarantino has apparently written the script for his final movie called The Movie Critic and he’s prepping to direct this fall, according to sources.

Details about the story are securely locked in a briefcase that when opened has a strange golden glow, but what we do know is that it is set in late 1970s Los Angeles with a female lead at its center.

Pauline Kael’s Inspiration

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news and says the story focuses on Pauline Kael, one of the most influential movie critics of all time. Kael died in 2001 from Parkinson’s disease, and she was known for her pugnacious fights with editors as well as filmmakers.

In the late 70s, Kael had a very brief tenure working as a consultant for Paramount, a position she accepted at the behest of actor Warren Beatty. The timing of that Paramount job seems to coincide with the setting of the script, and the filmmaker is known to have a deep respect for Kael, making the odds of her being the subject of the film more likely.

Mother F*****g Actors

For two decades, Tarantino has commanded the ability to attract the most coveted actors, working with Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt two times each. Pitt won an Oscar for his role as Cliff Booth in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. He also directed Christoph Waltz to two Oscar wins for Actor in a Supporting Role for Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained.

If this truly is his final film, Tarantino will have no shortage of actors and actresses clamoring over themselves to land a part.

Plenty More Tarantino

While doing interviews promoting his recent book Cinema SpeculationTarantino said he had written a 10-episode TV series that could have possibly been an actual Bounty Law series based on the show featured in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. There are also rumors of a potential film centered on the backstory of Cliff Booth, the aforementioned character played by Brad Pitt.

So even though this is potentially Tarantino’s last movie, he seems to have plenty of irons in the fire for future projects.
