Another “out of the blue” movie that’s headed to Amazon Prime Video is called Samaritan. It stars Sylvester Stallone, Javan Walton, Pilou Asbeck, Dascha Polanco, Martin Star, Moises Arias and more.
The story outline for Samaritan is:
“A young boy learns that a superhero who was thought to have gone missing after an epic battle twenty years ago may in fact still be around.”
Samaritan is directed by Julius Avery, best known for Overlord, and written by Bragi F Schut. He was behind Season of the Witch with Nick Cage. He was also the writer for Escape Room. Talking about the movie, Stallone told Yahoo:
“I love action films that also have heart. I wanted to be involved with Samaritan because this story has many layers that I think people can relate to. It’s something of a morality tale that is also very exciting to watch.”
“We are thrilled that this will be seen globally on Prime Video where my fans and all audiences can enjoy it together around the world.”
Director Avery has said:
“We didn’t really have superheroes…We only had action heroes. And Sly was the closest thing we had to a superhero. So to put him in a superhero movie? That feels fresh and cool and something that people will get a kick out of.”
I’ve never seen Stallone in a cape. Here are some pictures from Samaritan.
Samaritan will be streaming on Prime Video from 26th August. The film has been rated PG-13, which technically means they are allowed some naughty words. The movie is produced by, who else, Balboa Productions.
