It’s due out next month.  It was expected to be locked down by now.  COVID cinema closures are pushing this release day back. Even so, this seems a little late in the day for a switch of this magnitude, doesn’t it?

Film Music Reporter has announced that Lorne Balfe (Mission: Impossible – Fallout, Bad Boys For Life) is taking over the composer duties for Black Widow.  Alexandre Desplat was locked and loaded for this and, given the timescales, should have been finished, or very nearly finished.

No reason has been given for his departure.  Something strange going on there!

Rumors persist of a potential VOD release for this movie however Disney execs have repeatedly said they plan to get it into theatres and feel it’s too big for VOD.  We will see if that opinion holds as the theatrical lockdown continues.

Other Marvel productions with longer lead times are also crewing up. Cinematographer Seamus McGarvey (The Avengers, Godzilla, Bad Times At The El Royale) will take himself and his Oscar nomination to Spider-Man 3 at Sony with Marvel.
