Steven Spielberg is set to co-write a biopic about himself growing up and in talks to play him is Gabriel LeBelle, known for iZombie, Dead Shack and The Predator.
The movie, called The Fabelmans, will be based on Spielberg’s upbringing and family. Casting has been kept in secret until now, but it now turns out that other stars have signed up including, Michelle Williams playing a character inspired by Spielberg’s mother, Seth Rogan playing a favourite uncle. Paul Dano is set to play the character based on his father.
Spielberg will be working with Tony Kushner on the script and story. They have worked together before on movies like Munich, Lincoln and the up-and-coming remake of West Side Story, due out in Dec 2021.
Spielberg is new to directing, I can’t say I know any of his movies… I joke, I joke. Back in 1975, he made Jaws, which put him firmly on the map as a great director and a movie that still stands up today as one of the greatest movies ever made.
Other movies you may of heard of are ET, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Close Encounters, Empire of the Sun, Jurassic Park, Schindler’s List, Saving Private Ryan, Minority Report, Catch Me If You Can, War of the Worlds, War Horse, Lincoln, The BFG, Ready Player One to name just some of them.
Spielberg has often talked about his upbringing in Arizona and how it inspired many of his movies and the characters in them. This new movie might be a real insight to his storytelling and the movies he has made.
The Fabelmans is set to be directed by Spielberg and should begin filming this summer and set for release sometime in 2022.
