It never stops. Consume content, not art. The curse of the streaming platforms spreads as their voracious appetite requires constant feeding by content. In ten years’ time, we will have Cobra Kai Babies, the Untold Story Of Reacher Jr, a soap opera set among the daily lives of the staff at Jurassic Park, Hellcow will make its MCU debut on Disney+, and the ninety-fifth Star Wars series will be about to premiere. We see the start of this already with the announcement of yet more Star Wars. Nothing but Star Wars. This time Star Wars: Skeleton Crew.
The Star Wars Celebration event continues to throw fish into the gaping maw of clapping seals that are remaining Star Wars fans these days. This time the enslaved barking of the once-proud wild animals was for Jude Law being announced as the star of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, which is the Star Wars series executive produced by Spider-Man: No Way Home director Jon Watts.
Watts was at the Star Wars Celebration expo yesterday to reveal the show’s official title and talk about Law’s casting. He says the series:
“…stars four kids but is not a kids show.”
This is the series that has been talked about as an 80s Amblin Entertainment coming-of-age equivalent in the Star Wars universe.
The series will take place in the same time period as The Mandalorian, which is getting a little crowded now with Boba Fett and Ahsoka also competing for eyeballs in the same timeline.
Story details are under wraps. Watts and writer Chris Ford executive produce the series which will be on Disney+ some time in 2023.
