The end of the Star Trek turd that is Star Trek: Picard is on approach. The second season has ended and a third season is already in the can. The third season will round out the story and end Picard’s journey. When it returns, it will look very different from the last two seasons from a cast point of view.
Santiago Cabrera, Allison Pill, Evan Evagora, and Isa Briones are all confirmed to be leaving the show following the conclusion of Season 2. That is the ship’s captain Cristobal Rios, the scientist Dr. Jurati, the Romulan Elnor, and the android Soji / Korre.
Those of you who suffered to the end know that the galaxy’s least favorite irritant Will Wheaton made an appearance and Korre joined the Travelers with him. Rios chose the alternative 21st Century party lifestyle and elected to stay behind like a Chad.
Elnor was killed and Dr. Jurati became the new Borg Queen.
So this paves the way for the returning crew from the Enterprise D and E to step up and return for season 3. Brent Spiner, Jonathan Frakes, Marina Sirtis, Levar Burton, Michael Dorn, and Gates McFadden are all coming back for the send-off.
Wheaton confirmed in a blog post that he won’t be coming back as his character’s story was done by the Picard Season 2 conclusion.
Patrick Stewart and the trio of Jeri Ryan as Seven-of-Nine, Michelle Hurd as Raffi and Orla Brady as Laris are all that remain from the original cast.
Star Trek: Picard Season 3 is expected to return in 2023. Meanwhile, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds continues its run on Paramount+.
