The latest movie from David O. Russell , called Amsterdam, has a trailer that has a lot of famous faces in it.

Amsterdam stars Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, John David Washington, Chris Rock, Anya Taylor Joy, Zoe Saldana, Mike Myers, Michael Shannon, Timothy Olyphant, Andrea Riseborough, Taylor Swift, Matthias Schoenaerts, Alessandro Nivola, Rami Malek, and Robert De Niro.

The movie’s plot, via 20th Century Studios, is:

“A fascinating and richly intricate tale that brilliantly weaves historical fact with fiction for a timely, cinematic experience, 20th Century Studios’ and New Regency’s original crime epic about three close friends who find themselves at the center of one of the most shocking secret plots in American history.”

Amsterdam is being written and directed by Russell, who is known for movies like Spanking the Monkey, Three Kings, The Fighter, Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle, to name just a few of them.

During the CinemaCon of 2022, Disney’s head of theatrical, Tony Chambers, introduced a sneak peak at of the movie. He said that Russell had:

“…brought together an all-star cast in ‘Amsterdam,’ which is an original romantic crime epic about three close friends who find themselves at the center of one of the most shocking secret plans in American history.”

This will mark the third time Russell has teamed up with Christian Bale. Over the years Russell has gained a reputation for being combative and abusive towards actors in his films, notably George Clooney, Lily Tomlin, and Amy Adams.

Most famously Russell and George Clooney nearly had a fistfight on the set of Three Kings.

According to Clooney, Russell was demeaning the crew verbally and physically. Clooney stood up for them, telling Russell:

“David, it’s a big day. But you can’t shove, push or humiliate people who aren’t allowed to defend themselves.”

The confrontation escalated when Russell actually headbutted Clooney and Clooney grabbed Russell by the throat. Russell eventually apologized and filming continued, but Clooney refuses to work with Russell again.

Amsterdam is scheduled to be released in the United States on November 4, 2022.
