Hot on the heels of the amusing idea that got way out of hand, Pirates Of The Caribbean, and the little seen Haunted Mansion comes another attempt to turn a Disney ride into a movie. This time Space Mountain is getting the treatment.

Joby Harold (Awake, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword) is writing a live action screenplay and they are zeroing in on a big screen release, as long as there are still theaters left for them to release into.

The big-ticket, signature ride of Tomorrowland in most Disney parks worldwide, the indoor and in the dark space themed rollercoaster is now many years old. Unlike Pirates Of The Caribbean there are no story elements built into the ride so it’s a blank sheet of paper and a title. This is potentially not a good thing!

If the name Joby Harold rings a bell, that is because they were the writer on the upcoming Disney+ limited series Obi-Wan Kenobi. No dates are fixed for either Obi-Wan Kenobi or Space Mountain.

Space Mountain is about to get a challenger in it’s own backyard as the excellent Tron coasters from Asian Disney parks are finally being imported to the US and are under construction right now, next door to Space Mountain.
