This is rumor control, this is rumor control… Once more we bring you news from our files marked “Unconfirmed… but interesting!” we bring you news of some potential casting for John Wick 4. From the guys at The Illuminerdi comes the news that Blade star Wesley Snipes is currently in negotiations with Lionsgate for a supporting role.
Neither Lionsgate nor Snipes have yet commented on the rumor, but it is growing out there on the internet. Snipes is said to be playing a skilled swordsman who will be alongside John Wick in several scenes.
The cast is getting heavyweight. Donnie Yen (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) has been cast to play an old friend of Wick’s who, according to the rumors:
“…shares his same history and many of the same enemies.”
John Wick 4 will also include turns from Bill Skarsgård (It), Shamier Anderson (Stowaway), and Japanese-British singer Rina Sawayama alongside Reeves returning to the titular role and Ian McShane with Lance Reddick. Laurence Fishburne also returns as the Bowery King with Ken Watanbe also appearing in an unknown role. Fishburne had this to say:
“I read the script. It’s really, really cool. As much as it’s the same world as the other three films, it’s just deeper. It’s much deeper in terms of the code of the assassin and the relationship that he has with one character in particular who I think Mr. Watanabe is playing… is really the heart and soul of it.”
Series creator Derek Kolstad was busy with Bob Odendirk and Nobody, which has been speculated by fans to exist in the same universe as John Wick, so he’s sitting this one out. Chad Stahelski returns to direct, as he has with all three prior entries.
John Wick 5 will also happen and that is said to bring the series to a close.
John Wick: Chapter 4 is set to be released on May 27th, 2022 with filming just kicking off in Paris, Berlin, Japan, and New York City.
