For all of those who have been holding their breath, you can nearly let it out, Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins is almost in the cinemas, but you can comfort yourself with the final trailer.

Two words that springs to mind is Batman Begins, well, there are now three challenges added to it.

Little is known about the plot so far :

A G.I. Joe spin-off centered around the character of Snake Eyes.

It stars Henry Golding, Andrew Koji, Samara Weaving, Ursula Corbero, Iko Uwais and Peter Mensah to name just a few. The screenplay is by Evan Spiliotopoulos, Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse. It’s being directed by Robert Schwentke, known for The Time Travellers Wife, Flightplan, R.E.D. and R.I.P.D.

Apparently, Andrew Koji, who plays Storm Shadow, wasn’t a fan of the original movies, saying recently in an interview :

“I thought about playing that character [Storm Shadow] because I didn’t like the first two films. I can say that. I’m allowed to not like a film. So, I was hesitant, at first, to even accept that. That’s a big studio film and my first role in a big studio film, so I was very hesitant because I didn’t have that trust in Hollywood to do that. What Warrior taught me and the voice that it gave me helped my work on Storm Shadow. I don’t wanna play a character with a six-pack. I wanted him to be human and flawed; he’s going through stuff. For me, when I saw the first G.I. Joe films, I was like, ‘I don’t wanna do that. That’s not the kind of thing I wanna do.”

This new Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins is a reboot of the G.I. Joe property and intended to be part of the shared universe based on Hasbro properties.

It will be released in US theaters in July and then in UK cinemas in August.
